Artist Statements
For representation/figurative art:
I seek to intensify and crystallize, through works of art, the most fleeting of moments where the form appears motionless within the stillness of its two-dimensional reality, yet retain an almost imperceptible hint of it's quiet vibrations. If this is accomplished, there is spontaneity, and I win, at least until the next painting.
For abstraction art:
All I do is find an idea that would make an interesting piece and then doggedly pursue it to completion. The ideas are stimulated by a photo I will see, a theme that I'd like to express, or a feeling I know I'd like to have when seeing the work completed. As a result the body of work contains many one-of-a-kind images.
